To delete an app I tap it twice, but the second time I hold until it says moving. If you touch it again you'll hear delete. You tap it and agree that you want to remove it.
You can only remove apps that are added, not the ones that came with the phone.
I don't read books, but I suspect the same process would remove a book, but I'm not sure.
If it works like removing music, I connect my phone to my computer, and use iTunes to do this.
You can also use iTunes to remove apps, but I find it faster on the

I believe that in bard mobile you want to go to bookshelf and then click on the book or magazine button, then click on the edit button and then flick over until you find the delete button and double-tap that.

I've been having trouble deleting apps and cities that I put in the weather app that came with the phone. I'll tap twice, hold my finger down on the second tap until I get that sound, but nothing seems to happen or the app just opens up. Not sure what's going on with that, but I don't think I've ever gotten a voiceover prompt saying *moving*.

Try using 2 fingers. Put a finger on what you want to move or delete and use another finger to work it.
